As a Birth Photographer, we live an on call life, waiting for word it is time to come. Adrenline pumps through us, as we prepare our gear, arrange childcare, and pray that baby stays in till we arrive!!! That call gives us Life, it rejuvinates us, and speaks to our souls. New life is about to enter in, and the parents entrusted me with capturing it. An honor I don’t take lightly since there are no re shoots during a Birth.
This particular Night I got the call, “It is time I think, I am contacting the midwife now”. This is the alert status for me, seeing that it isn’t a gurantee it is the real deal. Howver, this Mama had been waiting about 2 weeks past her due date, so for her sake I prayed it was the real thing!!!
I arrived, and things were going slow, so she sent me home. Thank God I only lived a few houses away, becuase sure enough as babies do, this one decided to progress much faster when I left. A few short hours later, Dad called me to hurry back, and I entered to find Mom already pushing!!!! Thankfully I was able to whip out my camera and start shooting immediately, because her little guy was waiting for no one!
Births bring me so much joy, and capturing Mom’s first hold and cradle is everything. To witnness Life enter this World is beyond amazing. This Mama did an amazing job birthing her son into this World, and one of my favorite parts about her birth. Is the fact that her Teenage daughter was by her side as well. What better circle of Life then that!
